Total registered marriages shows a decreasing trend for the last five years

            The number of registered marriages in 2020 decreased by 43.61 percent from 12,107 in 2016 to 6,827 marriages in 2020 as shown in Figure 1. This      was the lowest record for the last five years.

 

 

The highest number of registered marriages occur in Agusan del Sur

 

In 2020, Agusan del Sur noted the highest registered marriages which accounted to 2,203 or 32.27 percent of the total. However, Dinagat Islands had the least registered marriages with 1.93 percent of the overall marriages in the region.

 

 

About one in four marriages are officiated in Roman Catholic 

 

Most of the marriages in 2020 were contracted through civil ceremony with 48.75 percent of the total. About one in four marriages were officiated by the Roman Catholic Church with 28.99 percent. However, marriages solemnized in Muslim traditions comprised 0.10 percent. While the remaining were performed in other religious rites and tribal ceremony.

 

 

The month of February records the highest registered marriages at 1,271 in 2020

     Most of the marriages in 2020 occurred in February at 1,271 or 18.62 percent of the total. While in opposite, the month of April recorded the least number of registered marriages with 27 total marriages.

 

 

More than three percent of females in their teenage years are married. 

 

          Figure 5 shows that the highest percentage of married males and females was the age group 25-29 years old. More than 3.00 percent of females in         their teenage years were married.

 

 

Most marriages between Filipinos and non-Filipinos involves American Nationals

     Among the intermarriages between Filipinos and foreign nationals, marriages between Filipinos and American nationals registered the highest number with 28 or 40.00 percent of the total. This was followed by marriag es involving Filipinos and Australian and British Nationals with Both 10.00 percent of the total.

 

Majority of the registered marriages in 2020 are timely registered.

Figure 7 shows that 93.64 percent of the total marriages in the Caraga in 2020 were timely registered and 6.36 percent were late registered.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Explanatory Notes

 

Data presented in this release were obtained from the Certificates of Marriages (Municipal Form No. 97) that were registered at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars of Caraga Region and forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority. The information presented includes registered marriages from January to December 2020.
