Birth Registration Assistance Project Expands to Former Rebels, Ensuring Comprehensive Civic Inclusion in Talacogon, Agusan del Sur
23 February 2024, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur – To enhance the execution of the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) by the Philippine Statistics Authority and the Local Civil Registry of Talacogon, steadfast support persists through an invitation from the 26th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army. This collaborative effort conducted at Barangay Zamora, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur, as part of their Former Rebel Summit 2024.
The Former Rebels Summit hosted by the 26th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army provides an excellent platform to address the legal requirements of former rebels, particularly obtaining the certificate of live birth through the Birth Registration Assistance Project.
The PSA - Agusan del Sur Provincial Statistical Office has taken the initiative to extend invitations to register these undocumented individuals. A total of forty seven individuals were registered, including family members of former rebels took part in this meaningful activity during the Civil Registration Month .
The BRAP aims to increase the level of birth registration , especially in the marginalized communities such as those belonging to the indigenous peoples (IPs), Muslims and the poorest sector in the country.
The collaborative efforts of the PSA, LGU Talacogon, Philippine Army and other participating agencies reflect a shared commitment to provide essential services to our former rebels at the same time fostering positive change and inclusivity in the community.
