06 February 2025 – CITY OF SURIGAO. The Philippine Statistics Authority Surigao del Norte kicks off the 35th Civil Registration Month with a motorcade around the City of Surigao. This annual celebration aims to remind Filipinos of their responsibility to register acts and events related to the status of persons, and to raise national awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative, and statistical values of civil registration records.
In partnership with the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCRO), PSO Surigao del Norte personnel, led by Officer-in-charge (OIC), Virgilio G. Avelina, Jr. conducted a series of activities marking the beginning of the month-long celebration. One of the activities is a lecture from OIC Avelina focused on this year’s theme, “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-Fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) System.”
A total of 15 participants from the LCRO staff completed the Provincial Elimination of the 2025 Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Quiz. The names of the winning team are as follows:
1. Anacorita P. Malinao – LCRO Burgos
2. Jay-Ann K. Espejon – LCRO General Luna
3. Maria Lyn A. Mira – LCRO Claver
The winners will represent the Province of Surigao del Norte at the Regional Elimination CRVS Quiz on February 24, 2025.
Through the development of a robust, flexible, and future-ready CRVS system, the Philippines aims to ensure that vital records are accessible and that the information gathered is used to improve the lives of all Filipinos.
