PSA-Dinagat Islands Launches Easy-to-Access Digital National ID, Streamlining Citizen Services

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), launched the Digital National ID on June 10, 2024, at the PSA Headquarters on East Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City. This Digital National ID is the third format and the official digital version of the National ID, which can be easily accessed via computers or smartphones with an internet connection. According to a public advisory issued by the PSA on June 11, 2024, similar to other formats such as the National ID card and the printed ePhilID, the Digital National ID must be accepted as valid proof of identification. It not only simplifies identification but also streamlines access to public services, banking, and private sector transactions. This new format aims to make government services more accessible, secure, and efficient.

The launch of the Digital National ID is part of the government’s efforts to provide national ID-registered citizens with immediate access to the benefits of being a National ID holder. PSA has also introduced the National ID eVerify platform, which all relying parties (RPs) are advised to use. The eVerify website (https://everify.gov.ph/check) allows users to verify the authenticity of the Digital National ID by scanning the QR code.

To access and generate a Digital National ID, registered citizens can visit the link: https://national-id.gov.ph, follow the instructions, and either take a screenshot or download a personal copy of their ID.

It is important to note that Digital National IDs printed on Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) cards are not valid for any transaction. Unauthorized printing of the Digital National ID on PVC cards or any other material by individuals or institutions is punishable under Section 19 of Republic Act No. 11055 (Philippine Identification System Act). Violators may face imprisonment of three to six years and fines ranging from one million pesos (₱1,000,000.00) to three million pesos (₱3,000,000.00).

The PSA remains dedicated to raising awareness about the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) and encouraging the acceptance of the National ID in its various formats. As per Section 19 of Republic Act No. 11055, refusal to accept or recognize the PhilID or PSN (subject to authentication) as the official identification without justifiable reason will result in a fine of five hundred thousand pesos (₱500,000.00).

Any citizen or institution that becomes aware of unauthorized production of the Digital National ID or encounters institutions refusing to honor it should report these cases to the PSA via email at info@philsys.gov.ph or through the National ID hotline at 1388.

For more information about the Digital National ID, please visit PSA-PDI Fixed Registration Center located at Purok-4 Aurelio, San Jose, Dinagat Islands. You can also visit our official Facebook page at fb.com/PSADinagatIslands or email us at dinagatislands@psa.gov.ph.
