Parental Marital and Non-Marital Status of Registered Live Births in Caraga: 2022
Over fifty percent of registered births in Caraga are born to parents with non-marital status
Figure 1 shows that 61.04 percent or more than half of the total registered births in Caraga in 2022 were born out of wedlock and only 38.96% of births were attributed to married parents. The total number of registered live births for 2022 reached 39,986.

Five in 10 of the registered births belonging to non-marital parents are male
For both males and females, the number of births to non-marital parents (12,718) for males and 11,691 for females) is higher than the number of births to marital parents (8,147 for males and 7,430 for females).

The highest proportion of births belonging to non-marital parents is to mothers aged 20-24 years
In 2022, a total of 24,409 births were to non-married parents. Mothers aged 20-24 years recorded the highest number of births to non-married parents, followed by those aged 25-29 years, 15-19 years, 30-34 years, 35-39 years, 40-44 years, under 15 years, 45-49 years, and 50 years and above. On the other hand, the highest proportion of births belonging to married parents was observed among mothers aged 30-34 years, followed by those aged 25-29 years, 35-39 years, 20-24 years, 40-44 years, 15-19 years, 45-49 years, and 50 years and above.


Explanatory Notes
Data presented in this release were obtained from the timely and late registered births at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars of Caraga Region and submitted to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) through the Provincial Statistical Office (PSOs). The information presented includes parental marital and non-marital status of the births that occurred in Caraga from January to December 2022 based on data files received by the PSA-Vital Statistics Division from the PSOs and processed as of 31 July 2023.
