29 May 2025 – SURIGAO CITY. The Inter-Agency Committee on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (IACCRVS) of Surigao del Norte convened for its second quarter meeting in 2025. The discussions emphasized updates on civil registration, with a focus on initiatives designed to enhance data usage. The objective is to ensure the production of accurate and comprehensive vital statistics, which are essential for national development, governance, and policy-making.
On 29 May 2025, the IACCRVS held its meeting at the PPDO Conference Room in Surigao City. Committee members participated in the session, which was overseen by IACCRVS Chairperson Engr. Virgilio G. Avelina, Jr., officer-in-charge of PSA Surigao del Norte.
Topics discussed and presented in the new business include the following:
• 4th National Convention on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS)
• Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) Updates
• Presentation on the 2023 Vital Statistics Report in Surigao del Norte
• Status of Submission of Civil Registry Documents for Q1 2025
Regarding other matters, Statistical Analyst Warren C. Dalan updated the committee on BSP Memo No. 2025-12: Reminder on the Acceptance of all National ID Formats and Enhanced Use of the National ID Authentication Services. Moreover, BRAP Coordinator Ma. Liza E. Benial addressed the issues and concerns brought out by the body regarding BRAP and birth registration among the Badjao community.
The conduct of quarterly IACCRVS meetings fosters collaboration and alignment among government agencies, local authorities, and stakeholders engaged in civil registration and vital statistics.
