Registered Live Births in the Province of Dinagat Islands: 2022

 

Most of the registered births occur in Libjo

The Province of Dinagat Islands' registered live births reached 948 in 2022 based on the place of occurrence. Among the municipalities, Libjo showed the highest number of registered live births, with 293 births. Conversely, Tubajon reported the lowest figure with 1 birth.

 

More male births than female

In 2022, more male births were recorded than females, as shown in Figure 2. The highest number of male births took place in the municipality of Dinagat, while for females, it was in Libjo.

 

 

September has the most number of registered live births

By month of occurrence, September had the highest number of registered live births with 105 births followed by October with 103 births. The lowest record was in January with 58 births.

 

 

Majority of the registered births are attended by health professionals

When it comes to birth registration by attendant at birth, most of the birth occurrences, or 96.94 percent were attended by health professionals while 2.95 percent of births involved traditional birth practices. The remaining 0.11 percent of births were attended by other individuals.

 

 

Nine out of 10 births occur at the health facilities

In 2022, 95.89 percent of births or nine out of 10 births occurred at the health facilities while 4.11 percent of births occurred at home.

 

 

Most of the birth occurrences  belong to mothers aged 25-29  years

Figure 6 shows the registered live births by age group of mothers according to their place of occurrence. Mothers aged 25-29 years recorded the highest count at 263 births, followed by mothers aged 20-24 years at 236. Teenage mothers recorded 110 births, while those aged 45-49 years old recorded 2 births.

 

 

San Jose has the highest number of registered births based on the usual residence of the mother

When in comes to birth registration according to the usual residenceof the mother, San Jose had the highest record with 321 births, followed by Libjo and Basilisa with 237 and 220 births, respectively. Meanwhile, Tubajon reported the lowest figure at 87 births.

 

 

More male births than  females

In 2022, there were more males born than females based on the usual residence of the mother. Among the municipalitiesin the province, San Jose had the highest number of registered births for both sexes, while Tubajon recorded the lowest figures for both.

 

 

September has the most number of registered live births

The highest number of registered live births was observed in September with 140 births based on the usual residence of the mother. While the lowest was recorded in January at 83.

 

 

Majority of the birth occurrences are attended by health professionals

According to the usual residence of the mother, the majority of the birth registrations, or 97.70 percent were attended by health professionals while 2.23 percent of births involved traditional birth practices, and the remaining 0.08 percent were attended by others.

 

 

Most of the birth occurrences belong to mothers aged 25-29 years

Mothers aged 25-29 years recorded the highest number of registered births at 373, based on the usual residence of the mother. This was followed by mothers aged 20-24 years, 30-34 years, 35-39 years, 15-19 years, 40-44 years, and 45-49 years.

 

 

 

 

Explanatory Notes


Data presented in this release were obtained from the timely and late registered births at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars of Caraga Region and submitted to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) through the Provincial Statistical Office (PSOs). The information presented includes registration of births that occurred in the Province of Dinagat Islands from January to December 2022 based on data files received by the PSA-Vital Statistics Division from the PSOs and processed as of 31 July 2023.
