21 June 2025 – The Philippine Statistics Authority – Provincial Statistical Office of Dinagat Islands (PSA-PSO Dinagat Islands), in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Basilisa, officially awarded Certificate of Live Birth in Security Paper (COLB in SecPa) to (26) twenty-six beneficiaries of the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) during celebration of the 58th Araw ng Basilisa held at the Barangay Doña Helene Gym in Basilisa, Dinagat Islands. The awarding ceremony served as a platform to promote awareness on BRAP—a nationwide initiative aimed at assisting unregistered individuals, particularly from marginalized and underserved communities, in securing their first-time birth registration free of charge. The Birth Registration Coordinator of BRAP together with Hon. Ozzy Reuben M. Ecleo, Municipal Mayor of Basilisa and Ms. Kirstie Blythe E. Bero, Acting Municipal Civil Registrar, led the distribution and took part in the awarding of the birth certificates.
As of this time, a total of 1,612 birth records of registrants from the Municipality of Basilisa have been verified, of which 1,366 were found to have no existing birth record. Among those verified, 497 birth records were registered through delayed registration with the concerned Local Civil Registry Offices, while 334 Certificates of Live Birth (COLBs) in SECPA were printed and issued to the respective beneficiaries.
The successful distribution of the 26 COLBs highlights the active participation and strong support of the LGU Basilisa through its Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO), whose collaboration with PSA was instrumental in reaching out to the community and facilitating the birth registration process.
