17 July 2025 – TUBAJON, DINAGAT ISLANDS. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Dinagat Islands continued its rollout of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) preliminary results through a presentation and community validation activity held at the People’s Hall of Tubajon at 1:00 PM. The activity marked the municipality’s full engagement in the validation phase of CBMS implementation an essential step to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the collected data.
A total of 19 participants, including two PSA personnel, took part in the session. The presentation was facilitated by Mr. Febrex C. Lakilak, Statistical Specialist II and designated Alternate CBMS Focal Person.
Among the attendees were MPDC Designate Engr. Adol N. Potot, along with MPDO technical personnel and representatives from key municipal offices, including the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), Municipal Health Office (MHO), Municipal Treasury Office, Philippine National Police (PNP), Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO), Sangguniang Bayan (SB), Nutrition Office, and Municipal Assessor’s Office (MASSO).
The discussion covered the CBMS implementation timeline, its objectives, and key statistical indicators on housing, health, education, access to basic services, and other available tabulations. Participants were actively involved in the data review process, offering feedback on specific indicators that needed additional clarification or validation.
One notable concern raised during the session was the reported presence of households practicing open defecation. This finding came as a surprise to LGU representatives, who clarified that the barangay in question had already achieved Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) status. The PSA acknowledged the issue, and it was duly flagged by the documenter. Both parties agreed to conduct field validation to verify the data and make the necessary corrections.
The MPDO personnel also confirmed that they will comply with the required documents and preparations needed to conduct the CBMS Data Turnover Ceremony, demonstrating their commitment to the process.
Statistician Engr. Leofer Sam Tidalgo expressed appreciation for the continued technical support provided by the PSA and commended the validation activity as a crucial initiative to ensure data quality before the official turnover.
As part of its commitment to grassroots-level data empowerment, PSA–Dinagat Islands will continue its coordination with other municipalities in the province to present the 2024 CBMS results and support their integration into local development planning.
