18 July 2025 – DINAGAT, DINAGAT ISLANDS. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Dinagat Islands continued its rollout of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) preliminary results through a presentation and community validation activity held at the Legislative Building of the Municipality of Dinagat at 1:00 PM.

This activity signified the full engagement of the municipality in the CBMS validation phase an essential process to verify the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of the collected data before the official turnover.

A total of 23 participants, including two PSA personnel, attended the session. The presentation was facilitated by Mr. Febrex C. Lakilak, Statistical Specialist II and designated Alternate CBMS Focal Person.

Key participants included Vice Mayor Jonathan M. Edillor, MPDC Engr. Elmer D. Elisan, and technical staff from the MPDO, as well as representatives from the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Community Development Section (CDS), Sangguniang Bayan (SB), Rural Health Unit (RHU), Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), Municipal Tourism and Cultural Office (MTCO), Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Municipal Accountant’s Office (MACCO), Municipal Budget Office (MBO), Municipal Treasurer’s Office (MTO), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), and the SB Office (SBO).

The discussion covered the CBMS implementation timeline, its objectives, and key statistical indicators on housing, health, education, access to basic services, and other available tabulations.
Participants were highly engaged in reviewing the results, particularly highlighting a concern on the presence of informal settlers in coastal areas who may not have been properly accounted for. This was flagged for validation and will be coordinated with both the MPDO and PSA for field verification and adjustment if necessary.

The municipal government expressed its commitment to prepare the necessary documentation and arrangements for the upcoming CBMS Data Turnover Ceremony, reinforcing their support for evidence-based local planning.

The PSA commended the proactive involvement of the Dinagat LGU and recognized the validation activity as a vital step in enhancing data accuracy and ensuring its usefulness for development planning.

As part of its mission to empower communities through data, PSA–Dinagat Islands will continue working closely with local governments across the province to present the 2024 CBMS results and assist in their integration into local development initiatives.
