Registered Live Births in Caraga: 2022 as of January 05, 2024

 

Agusan del Sur has the highest number of registered births

In 2022, a total of 39,683 live births were registered in Caraga based on the place of occurrence. Among the provinces, Agusan del Sur had the highest number of registered live births with 10,831 births, followed by Surigao del Sur with 10,138 births. On the contrary, the Province of Dinagat Islands reported the lowest figure at 948 births. 

 

 

Most of the registered births for both sexes occur in Agusan del Sur

For both sexes, Agusan del Sur had the highest number of registered births, while the lowest record can be found in the Province of Dinagat Islands.

 

 

September has the most number of registered live births

The figure below shows that September had the highest number of registered live births, totaling 3,739, while February showed the lowest record.

 

 

Nine out of ten birth occurrences are attended by health professionals

In 2022, 93.83 percent of births were attended by health professionals. Additionally, 5.81 percent of births involved traditional birth practices, while births attended by other attendants accounted for 0.39 percent of the total births in the region. 

 

 

Majority of birth occurrences take place at the health facility

In 2022, 93.44 percent of births occurred at the health facility, 6.48 percent of births occur at home, while others were recorded at 0.07 percent.

 

 

Most of the birth occurrences belong to mothers aged 25-29 years

Figure 6 shows the registered live births by age group of mothers according to their place of occurrences. It can be observed that there were 3 records of births to mothers aged 50 years and over. On the other hand, 4,270 births belong to teenage mothers aged 15-19 years, and 65 to mothers below 15 years. Mothers aged 25-29 years recorded the highest count at 10,905, followed by mothers aged 20-24 years at 10,038.

 

 

Agusan del Sur has the highest number of registered births based on the usual residence of the mother

The highest record in birth registration can be found in Agusan del Sur with 11,018 births based on the usual residence of the mother. This was followed by Surigao del Sur with 10,490 births. Meanwhile, the Province of Dinagat Islands reported the lowest figure with 1,303 births. 

 

 

More male births than females

There were more males born than females based on the usual residence of the mother. Among the provinces/HUC, Agusan del Sur had the highest number of registered births for both sexes, while the Province of Dinagat Islands recorded the lowest number.

 

 

September has the most number of registered live births

Based on month of occurrence, the highest number of registered live births can be observed in September with 3,784 births based on the place of occurrence. This was followed by November at 3,732. On the other hand, February showed the lowest record.

 

 

Most of the registered births are medically attended

With regard to registered births by attendant, 93.86 percent of births, according to the usual residence of the mother, were attended by health professionals, while 5.79 percent of births involved traditional birth practices. Others recorded 0.35 percent. 

 

 

Most of the birth occurrences belong to mothers aged 25-29 years

Based on the usual residence, mothers aged 25-29 years recorded the highest number of births at 10,986. This was followed by mothers aged 20-24 years with 10,095 births and mothers aged 30-34 years with 8,594 births. On the contrary, mothers aged 50 and over showed the lowest record at three (3) births. 

 

 

 

 

Explanatory Notes

 

Data presented in this release were obtained from the timely and late registered births at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars of Caraga Region and submitted to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) through the Provincial Statistical Office (PSOs). The information presented includes registration of births that occurred in Caraga from January to December 2022 based on data files received by the PSA-Vital Statistics Division from the PSOs and processed as of 31 July 2023.
