Registered Live Births in Agusan del Norte: 2022

Most of the registered births occur in Cabadbaran City

Agusan del Norte's registered live births in 2022 reached 4,006, based on the place of occurrence. Among the city/municipalities, Cabadbaran City showed the highest number of registered live births, totaling 1,737. On the contrary, Remedios T. Romualdez (RTR) reported the lowest figure.

More male births than female are recorded in Agusan de/   Norte

For all cities/municipalities in the province, more male births were recorded than females. Cabadbaran City had the highest number of registered births for both sexes based on the place of occurrence, while the lowest records can be found in Remedios T. Romualdez (RTR)

September has the most number of registered live births

The figure below shows that September had the highest number of registered live births with 421 births, while February showed the lowest at 268 births.

Most of the birth occurrences are attended by health professionals

When it comes to birth registration by attendant at birth, 90.04 percent were medically attended particularly by health professionals, 9.41 percent of births involved traditional birth practices, while births attended by other individuals accounted for 0.55 percent.

More than half of births occur at health facilities

In 2022, 89.09 percent of births occurred at the health facilities, 10.88 percent of births occurred at home, while 0.02 percent occurred in other places.

Most of the birth occurrences in Agusan de/ Norte belong to mothers aged 20-24 years

Figure 6 shows the registered live births by age group of mothers according to their place of occurrence. Mothers aged 20-24 years recorded the highest count at 1,138 births, followed by mothers aged 25-29 years at 1,075. Mothers aged 15-19 years showed 515 births while those aged under 15 years recorded 3 births.

Cabadbaran City has the highest number of registered births based on the usual residence of the mother

The highest record of registered births can be found in Cabadbaran City, with 1,213 births based on the usual residence of the mother, followed by Buenavista with 988 births. Meanwhile, RTR reported the lowest figure at 226 births.

More male births than  females

There were more males born than females based on the usual residence of the mother. Among the city/municipalities in the province, Cabdbaran City had the highest number of registered births for both sexes, while the RTR recorded the lowest figure.

September has the most number of registered live births

In 2022, the highest number of registered live births was observed in September, with 565 births based on the usual residence of the mother. On the other hand, the lowest record was recorded in February at 365.

Ninety-two point forty-nine percent of birth occurrences are attended by health professionals

According to the usual residence of the mother, 92.49 percent of births were attended by health professionals, 7.10 percent of births involved traditional birth practices and the remaining 0.41 percent were attended by others.

Most of the birth occurrences belong to mothers aged 20-24 years

In the province of Agusan del Norte, mothers aged 20-24 years recorded the highest number of registered births at 1,460, based on the usual residence of the mother. This was followed by mothers aged 25-29 years, 30-34 years, 15-19 years, 35-39 years, and 40-44 years. Mothers aged 45-49 years had 14 births, while those under 15 years had 5 births.

Explanatory Notes

Data presented in this release were obtained from the timely and late registered births at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars of Caraga Region and submitted to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) through the Provincial Statistical Office (PSOs). The information presented includes registration of births that occurred in Agusan del Norte from January to December 2022 based on data files received by the PSA-Vital Statistics Division from the PSOs and processed as of 31 July 2023.
