PSO Agsuan del Sur Reports National ID Registration Progress in August 2024
09 September 2024 – Agusan del Sur. The Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of Agusan del Sur proudly reports a significant achievement in the National ID registration drive, with a total of 658,353 Agusanons successfully registered as of August 31, 2024.
Leading the registrations is the City of Bayugan, with 98,078 registrants, followed closely by Prosperidad (78,417) and San Francisco (70,021). These high numbers are attributed to larger populations and well-organized local registration campaigns. Even in smaller municipalities like Santa Josefa and La Paz, strong efforts led to impressive registration counts of 23,150 and 27,613, respectively, demonstrating a broad reach across the province. (Figure 1)
The success of the initiative may be attributed to the extensive outreach efforts, which included mobile registration aimed at remote and hard-to-reach areas. However, registration for children under 5 years old remains a challenge, with only 16,895 registered—just 17.173 percent of the target age group. Key barriers include dependence on parents or guardians for documentation, logistical difficulties in isolated communities, and lower awareness of the process.
To address these issues, PSO will intensify awareness campaigns, expand mobile registration units, conduct of “Rehistro Bulilit” campaign, and strengthen partnerships with local government units (LGUs), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and educational institutions. These strategies aim to boost registration rates, particularly for young children, and ensure inclusivity for all Agusanons. (Figure 2)
Overall, the successful registration drive across all municipalities highlights the comprehensive and inclusive approach taken by PSO and LGUs to ensure that every Agusanon has the opportunity to register for their National ID.
