The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO) Caraga calls on all stakeholders in the region to support the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Memorandum No. 2025-012, issued on April 6, 2025, which mandates all BSP-Supervised Financial Institutions (BSFIs) to accept all formats of the National ID as valid and primary proof of identity, and to strengthen the use of the National ID authentication services.
The Memorandum reinforces BSP’s commitment to promote inclusive and secure identity verification in the financial sector in collaboration with the PSA. In particular, BSFIs are instructed to:
1. Accept all formats of the National ID, including the National ID Card, National ID in paper form, and Digital National ID, as valid and primary proof of identity:
2. Use the National ID Check (https://everify.gov.ph/check) for verifying the authenticity of the National ID, in all its recognized formats. BPFIs are enjoined to integrate with the National ID System by onboarding with the National ID Authentication Services through the National ID eVerify (https://everify.gov.ph/); and
3. Ensure that all formats of the National ID are prioritized and included in the list of acceptable IDs in all branches, alongside other recognized forms of government-issued identification, as part of the effort to promote consistency and ease in transactions.
PSA RSSO Caraga supports this initiative and urges the public to be aware of their rights when using their National ID in financial transactions. Any refusal by BSFIs to recognize valid National ID formats is contrary to this BSP directive.
For any clarifications or concerns regarding the use of the National ID, the public may reach out to PSA RSSO Caraga at rssocaraga@psa.gov.ph or (6385) 225-5219, or the Use Case Development and Managed Services (UCDMS) unit of the PSA via email at ucdms.staff@psa.gov.ph or by calling (02) 8533-7046.
Let us work together to promote a more inclusive, efficient, and secure identity system for all Filipinos.
