As of 05 January 2023, the Philippine Statistics Authority - Caraga recorded a total of 2,007,240 registrants for the Step 2 PhilSys registration. This represents 81.32 percent of the region's total projected population aged 5 years old and over based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing.

Since the region's operation in June 2021, total registrants per province are as follows:

•   Agusan del Norte (including Butuan City) – 558,235
•   Agusan del Sur – 560,444
•   Surigao del Norte – 361,289
•   Surigao del Sur – 442,985
•   Dinagat Islands – 84,287

The Province of Agusan del Sur had the highest number of registrants among the five (5) provinces based on the target per province. PSA Caraga employs a variety of strategies for the Step 2 Registration operation, including house-to-house mobile registration and onsite mobile registration in collaboration with the Local Government Units, National Government Agencies and the private sector.
