Explanatory Note
The data on the number of births, marriages, and deaths (vital events) presented in this release were obtained from the vital events registered, either timely or belatedly, at the appropriate Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrar throughout the country and subsequently submitted for encoding to the Office of the Civil Registrar General through the Provincial Statistical Offices (PSOs) of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). The information presented includes vital events that occurred from January to December 2023 based on data files received by the PSA - Civil Registration Service (CRS) from the PSOs and has undergone initial processing as of 31 August 2024. Thus, the figures presented herein are still provisional and may differ from the final count. (1) The vital events of Filipinos abroad are not yet included in this release, but Filipinos whose usual residence is abroad and foreign nationals with vital events occurring in the country during the reference period were included in this report.

Registered Births down by 11.7 percent in 2023
In Agusan del Norte, the reported number of live births for males were at 2,489 and 2,250 for females that totals to 4,739 live births registered in 2023, a decrease of 11.7 percent from the total registered births of 5,365 in 2022.
Least Births Registered in December
In 2023, December recorded the least number of registered live births with 321 or 6.8 percent of the total birth registration in the province. On other hand, the month of May and September had the highest number of registered live births in both sexes with 434 or 9.16 percent share, respectively. (Figure 1)
Registered Marriages slowed down in 2023
There were 1,405 registered marriages in 2023 for the province of Agusan del Norte, a decrease by 471 compared to the registered marriages of 1,876 in 2022.
Most Marriages occurred in February
In 2023, February recorded the highest number of marriages with 306 registered in the province. The month of September ranked second with 160 and followed by the month of December with 151 registered marriages.
On the other hand, the month of November recorded the least marriages with 51 being registered. (Figure 2)
Registered Death increases in 2023
A total of 2,821 registered deaths were recorded for both males and females in Agusan del Norte, an increase of 130 compared to the recorded registered death of 2,691 in 2022.
Moreover, Males recorded a high number of registered deaths at 1,620 while females recorded 1,201 registered deaths for the same year. (Figure 3)
Most Death recorded in January
January recorded 291 registered deaths in the province of Agusan del Norte which is the highest number of recorded deaths throughout the year. It was seconded by the month of May with 271 and followed by the month of March with 262 registered deaths. However, the month of July recorded the least registered death of 192. (Figure 4)
