National ID Registration Efforts in Agusan del Sur Now Include Persons Deprived of Liberty
26 June 2024 – Agusan del Sur. The Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of Agusan del Sur, through its Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) unit, has successfully extended its National ID registration services to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Provincial Correctional and Security Management Office on June 24-25, 2024. This significant initiative underscores the commitment to inclusivity and the provision of essential identification services to all members of the community.
The registration drive aimed to ensure that Persons PDLs are not excluded from the benefits of the National ID system, which provides a secure and efficient means of identification. The initiative reflects the government's dedication to reaching marginalized populations and ensuring that every individual has access to their fundamental rights and services.
The the Chief Statistical Specialist of PSO Agusan del Sur, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “Extending National ID registration to Persons Deprived of Liberty is a crucial step in our mission to ensure that no one is left behind. It is not just about providing an ID; it is about recognizing their identity and dignity, and ensuring they have access to essential services and opportunities upon reintegration into society.
