More marriages registered from January to November 2021 than the previous year

    Figure 1 shows that there were more marriages registered in Caraga Region from January to November 2021 than the previous year. The total number of registered marriages reached 10,292, higher by 81.55 percent than the total marriages of 5,669 in 2020 according to the vital statistics preliminary result as of February 28, 2022.

The highest number of registered marriages occur in Surigao del Sur

        Among the provinces and highly urbanized city (HUC) in Caraga, the highest number of registered marriages occur in Surigao del Sur with 2,787 registered marriages in 2021 or an increase of 138.00 percent from the previous year. Contrariwise, Dinagat Islands has the least at 211 marriages from 119 in 2020.   

The month of May 2021 recorded the highest registered marriages at 1,161

        Figure 3 indicates that the month of May 2021 recorded the highest registered marriages at 1,161 or an increase of 343.13 percent from 262 in 2020. However, the month of February showed a decline of 15.18 percent from 1,271 in 2020 to 1,078 in 2021.
 

Surigao City posted 768 registered marriages which is the highest among the component cities in Caraga

        From January to November 2021, Surigao City posted 768 registered marriages which is the highest among the component cities in Caraga. This was followed by Bislig City with 586 marriages or 195.96 percent higher from 198 in 2020. On the other hand, Tandag City showed the least number of registered marriages at 286 in 2021 from 186 in 2020.

Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur recorded the highest increase among the municipalities in Caraga

       With regards to marriage registration by municipalities, the top three (3) municipalities that recorded the highest increase are Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur with an increase of 120.53 percent from 151 registered marriages in 2020; Trento, Agusan del Sur at 164.44 percent from 90 in 2020 to 238 in 2021; and San Francisco, Agusan del Sur at 84.00 percent from 175 in 2020.

Data presented in this release were obtained from the Certificates of Marriages (Municipal Form No. 97) that were registered at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars of Caraga Region and forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority. The information presented includes registered deaths from January to December 2021, preliminary as of 28 February 2022.
