The Inter- High School Statistics Quiz in the Department of Education- Bayugan City Division brought together junior high school students from nine secondary schools across the division on October 29 in a display of statistical knowledge and skill. Participating schools were Bayugan National Comprehensive High School, San Juan, Berseba, Noli, Mt. Carmel, Salvacion, Fili, Maygatasan, and Marcelina National High School (NHS).
The quiz tested participants' foundational knowledge in statistics, data interpretation, and applications, assessing their awareness of national, regional, and provincial statistical trends and PSA's official releases. Questions also included practical applications of statistical concepts and analytical methods.
The panel of judges included Computer Operator- Levi Ian Lim, Project Development Officer- Ghia Mar Ramos, Education Program Supervisor- Geraldine Vargas, Principal III- Maria Elena Saga, and Administrative Officer- Eljun Calimpusan. Following a competitive series of rounds, Salvacion NHS emerged as the champion, Mt. Carmel NHS secured the second place, and Bayugan National Comprehensive High School took the third place. These students highlighted impressive problem-solving skills and data literacy.
The event underscored the importance of data literacy and critical thinking in preparing young learners for real-world applications. The Inter-High School Statistics Quiz reflects the commitment of both educators and students to advancing statistical education within the division, fostering skills that are essential for the future.
