The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Agusan del Norte Provincial Statistical Office spearheaded the conduct of the 28th PSQ Provincial Elimination held at the Conference Room, PSA Office, Laurente Bldg., J.C. Aquino Avenue, Butuan City on 25 October 2024. With their coaches, 10 contestants (8 from Butuan City and 2 from Agusan del Norte) represented various state universities and colleges in Butuan City and Agusan del Norte.

After the last round, contestants from Saint Michael College of Caraga and Caraga State University won first place for Agusan del Norte and Butuan City Divisions, respectively. The following contestants were proclaimed as winners:

Agusan del Norte Division:
• 1st Place: Dimple B. Tumbado – Saint Michael College of Caraga
• 2nd Place: Kyle Katrice Andrea C. Dumadara - Saint Michael College of Caraga

Butuan City Division:
• 1st Place: Lev Andrei M. Fazon – Caraga State University
• 2nd Place: Mark Emmanuel B. Avila – Caraga State University
• 3rd Place: Dazzle John A. Egot – Father Saturnino Urios University

The first and second places in the provincial eliminations will represent the Agusan del Norte and Butuan City in the Regional Championship on 08 November 2024.

The Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) is a nationwide annual contest designed to test the knowledge in statistics of freshman students enrolled in colleges and universities in the 17 regions of the country. The PSA and the Philippine Statistical Association, Incorporated (PSAI) are the organizers of this year’s event.

The PSQ aims to assess the competency and skills of students in statistics as acquired from the secondary education curriculum; promote, enhance, and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of science, statistics in particular, among the students; and generate public awareness of the importance of statistics in all development-panning activities and win overall support for all government statistical activities.
