The Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of Agusan del Sur Spearheads City and Municipal Level Training to Enhance 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Household Data Collection and Geo-tagging across the Province
13 July 2024 – Agusan del Sur. In fulfillment to RA 10625 that mandates the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to prepare and conduct the periodic census on population, housing, and other sectors of the economy, the Municipal Level Training for 2024 POPCEN-CBMS Household Data Collection and Geo-tagging was initiated across the province of Agusan del Sur preceding the recently conducted Provincial Level Training on June 24 to 29.
On July 1 to 6, the first batch of newly hired personnel from Bayugan City and the municipalities of Bunawan, Rosario, San Francisco, Prosperidad, Veruela, and Santa Josefa successfully completed their training. This cohort included a total of 11 Census-CBMS Area Supervisors, 277 Enumerators (EN), and 49 Team Supervisors (TS). The second batch of training was conducted from July 8 to 13 for personnel from the municipalities of Loreto, Trento, Esperanza, Sibagat, San Luis, La Paz, and Talacogon. This group comprised nine Census-CBMS Area Supervisors, 183 ENs, and 33 TSs.
The intensive training equipped the POPCEN-CBMS personnel with effective skills for conducting data collection, evaluation, compilation, and analysis. These skills will be crucial for accurately assessing population counts, demographic and socio-economic characteristics, and other relevant data in each barangay, municipality, city, province, and region across the country.
Key topics discussed during the training include data validation procedures, census enumeration techniques, program navigation, and handling various scenarios that may arise during the implementation of POPCEN-CBMS procedures.
The household data collection will commence on July 15. Thus, the PSO encourages the public to support and participate in the said operation to help the government executives, policymakers, and planners implement necessary social and economic development plans, policies, and programs.
