02 April 2025 – CITY OF SURIGAO. The vibrant celebration of the National Women’s Month is a powerful testament to the resilience and achievements of women. From reciting of the Safe Spaces Pledge to inspiring talks by city social workers focused on women's rights and economic independence, the month was filled with a variety of events.

On 03 March 2025, PSA Surigao del Norte (SDN) personnel attended the LGU Surigao City Flag Raising Ceremony and Recitation of the Safe Spaces as part of their kick-off ceremony of the National Women’s Month.

On the other hand, the opening ceremony of the 2025 National Women’s Month is a collaboration of PSA SDN with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), where Ms. Chermie L. Solana, RSW, and Ms. Rya Zen L. Opalia, RSW, sparked meaningful discussions as they shared their expertise in a lecture series at the PSA Conference Room.

Topics of the lecture series include Republic Act 6949 (National Women's Day), Republic Act 7192 (Women in Development and Nation Building Act), and Republic Act 11313 (Safe Spaces Act). Meanwhile, for the whole month of March, the advocacy streamer of the 2025 National Women’s Month was on display in the PSA Surigao del Norte office building located at Navarro Street, Surigao City.

On 28 March 2025, the PSA SDN culminated the month-long celebration with a coastal clean-up drive in Sitio San Roque, Barangay Ipil, Surigao City. Each collected item felt like a small victory, a step towards preserving the marine species that live along the coastline. There has been a renewed sense of hope, knowing that even small efforts can make a significant impact on the health of the oceans.

The overwhelming sense of unity is a powerful testament to the continuous process of creating a more just and inclusive society, where the contributions of women are not only recognized but also celebrated every day.
