25 July 2025 – CAGDIANAO, DINAGAT ISLANDS. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Dinagat Islands continued its rollout of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) preliminary results through a presentation and community validation activity held at the Function Hall in Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands at 1:00 PM. The activity marked the municipality’s full engagement in the validation phase of CBMS implementation an essential step to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the collected data.
A total of 19 participants, including two PSA personnel, took part in the session. The presentation was facilitated by Mr. Febrex C. Lakilak, Statistical Specialist II and designated Alternate CBMS Focal Person of PSA-Dinagat Islands.
Among the attendees were Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Engr. Aldrin L. Semblante, along with Municipal Planning and Development Office technical personnel and representatives from key municipal offices, including the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), Municipal Engineering Office (MEO), Mayor’s Office, Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), Municipal Accounting Office (MACCO), Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Municipal Civil Registry (MCR), Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), and the Nutrition Office.
The presentation covered the CBMS implementation timeline, its objectives, and key statistical indicators related to housing, health, education, access to basic services, and other relevant tabulations. Participants actively participated in the data review process, providing feedback on indicators requiring further clarification or validation.
A notable concern raised during the session was the reported presence of households with flush/pour flush toilets connected to a piped sewer system in all barangays of Cagdianao. This finding surprised LGU representatives, who clarified that these barangays only utilize septic tanks and are not yet connected to a sewer system. The PSA acknowledged the issue, and it was duly flagged by the session documenter. Both parties agreed to conduct field validation to verify the data and make necessary corrections.
MPDC Engr. Semblante shared that he has already started preparing the documentary requirements for the upcoming CBMS Data Turnover Ceremony and is gradually completing them. He also expressed appreciation for the PSA’s visit and recognized the validation activity as a vital step in ensuring data quality before the official turnover.
As part of its commitment to grassroots-level data empowerment, PSA–Dinagat Islands will continue its coordination with other municipalities in the province to present the 2024 CBMS results and support their integration into local development planning.
