The Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) – Agusan del Sur has officially commenced the conduct of the Second Quarter 2025 Crops Production Survey (CrPS) to gather timely and reliable agricultural data from farmers and agricultural establishments across the province.
In preparation for the field operations, a training for hired Statistical Researchers (SRs) was conducted on 12 and 13 June2025. The training aimed to equip SRs with the knowledge and skills necessary to collect accurate and consistent data in accordance with PSA standards and guidelines.
The data collection period is scheduled from 17 to 30 June 2025, targeting a total of 472 sample households and 34 agricultural establishments in Agusan del Sur. These samples represent various types of crop producers and are critical in obtaining comprehensive and representative data.
The CrPS is conducted quarterly and aims to generate essential production statistics for crops other than palay and corn. Specifically, it collects data on volume of production, area planted/harvested, and number of bearing trees/hills/vines by crop type.
The data generated from this survey serve as a vital input in the compilation of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), particularly in estimating the performance of the agriculture sector. It also supports evidence-based planning, policy formulation, food security monitoring, and investment decisions in agriculture and rural development.
The conduct of this survey is mandated under Republic Act No. 10625, also known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which empowers the PSA to collect, compile, analyze, and publish statistical data on all aspects of the economy, including the agriculture sector.
The PSA assures all respondents that the information provided will be treated with utmost confidentiality and will be used solely for statistical purposes, as stated in Section 26 of R.A. 10625. All respondents are strongly encouraged to provide truthful and complete responses, as accurate data are crucial to producing reliable statistics for national and local development planning.
With the continued support and cooperation of its stakeholders, PSA Agusan del Sur remains committed to delivering quality, timely, and relevant agricultural statistics that contribute to the country’s economic measurement and progress.
