The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Caraga launched the printed ePhilID as a digital version of the PhilID to supplement the production and delivery of the physical PhilID on October 8, 2022, across the region.
The PSA provides ePhilID to registered individuals so they can experience seamless delivery of all transactions in the private and public sector, access to more financial and social protection services while waiting for their physical ID to be delivered to their doorstep.
The ePhilID has the same functionality and validity as the Physical ID. It contains demograpic information, QR code, Front-facing photograph, PhilSys Card Number (PCN), Printed ePhilID Generation Date, Reminders, Cut-here Instructions, Authentication Instruction also still visible in the ePhilID. One of the security features of the ePhilID is the QR code, which can be scanned and verified through https://www.verify.philsys.gov.ph to check its authenticity and validity.
To speed up the delivery of ePhilIDs in the region and to help the registration teams deliver door-to-door in far-flung areas, PSA Caraga works closely with the Local Government Units (LGUs). On the other hand, the provincial focal persons worked with the private sector and distributed memorandum regarding the acceptance of ePhilID. Information campaigns were also conducted to promote the Philippine Identification System and its significance, including posting of social cards on Twitter and Facebook.
As of 15 January 2023, total of 122 registration kits were deployed throughout the region and 796,965 ePhilIDs were already printed and distributed.
