Empowering Provincial Governance Through CBMS: Agusan del Sur Provincial Data Turnover Ceremony
The province of Agusan del Sur achieved a significant milestone on April 1, 2024, as the 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) data for the province was officially turned over to the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS). This momentous event, held at Provincial Learning Center in Prosperidad, signifies a commitment to data-driven governance and inclusive development under the esteemed leadership of the Provincial Governor Hon. Santiago B. Cane, Jr.
The CBMS stands as a robust technological platform designed to gather, analyze, and validate disaggregated data crucial for informed decision-making at the municipal and provincial level. It goes beyond mere statistics, empowering communities to actively engage in the development process and voice their needs effectively.
Distinguished guests graced the ceremony, including Provincial Governor Santiago B. Cane, Jr., Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Provincial Director Arleen Ann R. Sanchez, Department of Information and Communications Technology Regional Director Sittie Rahma V. Alawi represented by Engr. Aldren Butra, PSA Caraga Regional Director Dr. Rosalinda Celeste-Apura, PSA Agusan del Sur Field Office Supervising Statistical Specialist Demetrio T. Dejolde, Jr. and other key officials and stakeholders from various government agencies and local offices.
During the ceremony, Supervising Statistical Specialist Dejolde, representing the PSA, presented key insights derived from the comprehensive CBMS data collected from households across Agusan del Sur. The presentation highlighted critical aspects of community life, such as access to essential services, food security and statistics on SDG indicators at the local level.
In his address, Provincial Governor Cane emphasized the pivotal role of data in formulating evidence-based policies and programs tailored to address the province's unique challenges. He reiterated the commitment to leveraging CBMS insights to drive inclusive development and ensure that no community member is left behind.
