08 May 2025 – SURIGAO CITY. The Provincial Statistics Committee of Surigao del Norte convened for the 2025 Second Quarter Meeting. The meeting focused on updates of the statistical framework, the calendar of activities for the National Statistics Month, and the conduct of household surveys.

The PSC meeting was held at the PPDO Conference Room, Surigao City, on 08 May 2025. Committee members attended the session, which was presided over by PSC Chairperson Engr. Virgilio G. Avelina, Jr., OIC of PSA Surigao del Norte.

Topics discussed and presented in the new business include the following:

•    2024 Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) Updates
•    2024 POPCEN-CBMS Operation Updates
•    Submission of 36th National Statistics Month (2025) Calendar of Activities
•    16th National Convention on Statistics (2025)
•    Conduct of 2025 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES): Visit 1
•    Compilation of Regional Tourism Satellite Accounts (RTSA) and conduct of 2025 Household Survey on Domestic Visitors (HSDV)

Moreover, Ms. Jecin J. Lisondra, Information Officer I of PSA Surigao del Norte, informed the committee on the PSA Board Resolution No. 1 – Institutionalization of the Compilation of Provincial Product Accounts. This resolution aims to systematically compile the gross domestic product at the provincial level, which supports better planning and decision-making for local policymakers and stakeholders.

The conduct of quarterly PSC meetings highlights the steadfast dedication of its members to working together to enhance statistical activities in the province, thereby supporting its sustainable development and progress.
