Empowering LGU Loreto Through 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Data Turnover Ceremony

 

 

March 8, 2024 marks a significant milestone as the 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) data of Loreto was formally turned over to the Local Government Unit, under the leadership of the esteemed Local Chief Executive, Hon. Lorife M. Otaza. This momentous event, held at Micro Hotel  in Poblacion Loreto, symbolizes a commitment to harnessing technology for the benefit of the community, ensuring inclusivity, and fostering effective governance.

The CBMS serves as a robust technology-driven platform designed to collect, process, and validate disaggregated data essential for informed decision- making at the local level. More than just a statistical endeavor, CBMS empowers communities to actively participate in the development process, enabling them to voice their needs and concerns effectively.

Gracing the ceremony were esteemed guests including Municipal Mayor Hon. Lorife M. Otaza, Supervising Statistical Specialist Demetrio T. Dejolde, Jr., Provincial Planning and Development Office Research and Statistics Division Statistician II Beverly M. Baclay, alongside heads and representatives from Local Offices.

Senior Statistical Specialist Vic F. Notarion, presenting on behalf of Supervising Statistical Specialist/Officer In-Charge Demetrio Dejolde Jr., revealed the insights gleaned from the comprehensive data set, collected  from 2022 CBMS responding households. The presentation shed light on various facets of community life, encompassing access to basic services such as electricity, internet connectivity, water supply, sanitation facilities, safety measures, food security, and disaster preparedness.

In her address, Local Chief Executive Hon. Lorife M. Otaza represented by  SB Member Hon. Marly Daday underscored the pivotal role of data in driving actionable initiatives and emphasized the commitment to address identified challenges and extend assistance to those in need. Furthermore, she urged the heads of local offices to leverage the insights provided by the CBMS data to devise effective strategies aimed at resolving pressing issues facing the  city.

The turnover ceremony signifies not just the transfer of data, but a commitment to utilizing information for the betterment of Loreto and its residents. Through collaborative efforts and data-driven governance, Loreto is poised to embark on a journey of inclusive development, leaving no  community member behind.
