Total registered deaths increase by 39.11 percent 

The number of registered deaths from January to November 2021 in Caraga reached 19,907, higher by 39.11 percent than the total registered deaths in the same period in 2020 based on the vital statistics preliminary result as of February 28, 2022.

 

 

All provinces posted an increase in the number of registered deaths 

With regards to death registration by province and highly urbanized city (HUC), all provinces posted an increase in the number of registered deaths from January to November 2021 from the same period of the previous year. The province of Agusan del Sur recorded the highest increase of 1,573 or 46.35 percent higher from the same period, while Butuan City, a highly urbanized city (HUC) showed the lowest increase of 15.32 percent in 2021 from registered deaths in 2020.

 

 

More deaths were registered from January to November 2021 than in 2020

        Figure 3 shows that there were more registered deaths in Caraga from January to November 2021 compared with the same period-in-review in 2020. The month of September 2021 recorded the highest increase from 1,393 in 2020 to 2,309 in 2021.

 

 

 

Bayugan City posted the highest increase of 66.99 percent among the component cities 

            Among the component cities in Caraga, Bayugan City posted the highest increase of 66.99 percent from 521 registered deaths in January to November 2020 to 870 of the same months in 2021. This was followed by Surigao City from 1,049 records in 2020 to 1,357 in 2021, and Bislig City at 858 in 2021 from 630 in 2020. On the other hand, Cabadbaran City showed the lowest increase from 330 in 2020 to 495 in 2021.

 

 

 

San Francisco, Agusan del Sur recorded the highest increase in deaths among the municipalities in Caraga 

         The table below shows the number of registered deaths from January to November 2020 and 2021 in the region by municipality. San Francisco, Agusan del Sur recorded the highest increase at 231 from 365 in 2020 to 596 in 2021, followed by Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur; Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur; and Trento, Agusan del Sur. Fifth in rank is Claver, Surigao del Norte which is higher by 130 deaths in 2021 from 137 records in 2020.

Data presented in this release were obtained from the Certificates of Death (Municipal Form No. 103) that were registered at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars of Caraga Region and forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority. The information presented includes registered deaths from January to December 2021, preliminary as of 28 February 2022.
