The 32nd National Statistics Month (NSM) kicked off with a virtual Opening Ceremony hosted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Caraga on 11 October 2021 via Zoom. This was attended by 100 participants from the different government agencies and private sector. Prior to this event, a virtual Press Conference was conducted on 08 October 2021.
This year’s celebration carries the theme: NSM@32: Revving up for Economic and Social Recovery Through Evidence-Based Policies. The theme accentuates the importance of statistics as bases for policy decisions to address the socioeconomic impact of Covid-19. It emphasizes that using relevant statistics as solid evidence will guide and support the nation’s efforts in navigating the pandemic towards socioeconomic recovery.
Participating national government agencies, state universities and colleges, and local government units (LGU) have several lined-up activities in support to the NSM celebration. These activities include statistical forums, statistical information dissemination activities, and statistical contests.
For the regional activities, Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office XIII (PSA RSSO XIII) enjoins the concerned general public to actively participate and support the 32nd NSM celebration. These include regional contests such as Best Display of Statistical Practices Using Infographics, Inter-Agency/LGU Statistics Quiz, and Data Storytelling.
For the second time, the region will conduct the Caraga Statistics Congress and Data Festival on 19 October 2021. The highlights of this event are plenary sessions, research paper presentations, and statistical games for college students and/or residents in the region.
Different learning sessions will also be conducted and these include the following topics: i) Small Area Estimation; ii) Agri-Stat Inventory on Climate Change; iii) Philippine Currency; and iv) Financial Inclusion and Digital Information.
The month-long celebration will conclude with a virtual Closing Ceremony on 29 October 2021. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas will host this event.
