The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) RSSO XIII will undertake the 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF).  Eligible respondents, among household members, are going to be interviewed by authorized field personnel.

The CAF is geared towards the compilation of basic information on the agricultural, aquaculture, and fishery sectors in the country. The data generated serve as important bases for policies, plans, and programs for the country’s socio-economic development. It also provides sampling frames for periodic agricultural and fishery surveys.  Moreover, structural characteristics will be determined for these sectors since data on agricultural, aquaculture, and fishery facilities in the barangays nationwide will be collected. Other key indicators of the Philippine Identification System’s institutionalization are also included in the questions.

The data generation utilizes the Computer Aided Personal Interview (CAPI). Also, the Self-Administered Questionnaire (SAQ) and the traditional Paper and Pencil Interview (PAPI) will be administered in cases where CAPI is not feasible.

Highlights of the CAF include:

1.     For the first time, the census introduced a groundbreaking classification of operators, owners, and hired managers. It will be a fresh perspective on the diverse range of individuals driving these sectors.

2.     With its comprehensive scope, the census encompasses a vast array of topics, including land use patterns, production methods, environmental practices, technology adoption, and more.

3.     The 2022 CAF does not merely provide a snapshot of the present, it offers a roadmap to a sustainable future. By identifying emerging trends and challenges, the census equips stakeholders with the information needed to foster resilience, address environmental concerns, and embrace innovation. It serves as a crucial tool in shaping policies that will steer the sectors toward long-term prosperity.

Field operation will be from 04 September 2023 to 25 October 2023. The general public are enjoin to support this large-scale undertaking.
