Summary Inflation Report Consumer Price Index in Caraga (2012=100): December 2018

Consumer Price Index for all items in Caraga increased by 4.22 percent in December 2018 compared with last year’s prices of the same month, from 113.8 in 2017 to 118.6 in 2018. Majority of the commodity groups recorded an increase in December 2018 compared with the last year’s prices of the same month. On the other hand, a decrease was observed for CPI (all items) from November 2018 (119.7) to December 2018 (118.6).

Consumer Price Index for all items in Caraga increased by almost 5.56 percent in November 2018 compared with last year’s prices of the same month,
from 113.4 in 2017 to 119.7 in 2018. A decreasing trend was observed for CPI (all items) from October 2018 (120.2) to November 2018 (119.7). However, most of the commodity groups recorded an increase in November 2018 compared with the last year’s prices of the same month.

Consumer Price Index for all items in Caraga increased by almost 6.18 percent in October 2018 compared with last year's prices of the same month,
from 113.2 in 2017 to 120.2 in 2018. An increasing trend was also observed for CPI (all items) from September 2018 (119.8) to October 2018 (120.2). Moreover, almost all commodity groups recorded an increase in October 2018 compared with the last year's prices of the same month.

Women in the Labor Force

The result of the Labor Force Survey (LFS) conducted in April 2017 shows the economic participation of women in Caraga. Of the 1,201 thousand
employed persons in the region, 36.1 percent or 434 thousand were women. In April 2017, the population of women aged 15 years old and over in the
region was estimated at 893 thousand wherein the number of women in the labor force was reported at 434 thousand.

Consumer Price Index in Caraga, April 2018 Report

Consumer Price Index for all items in Caraga increased by almost 3.07 percent in April 2018 compared with last year’s prices of the same month, from 166.3 in 2017 to 171.4 in 2018. An increasing trend was also observed for CPI (all items) from March 2018 (170.7) to April 2018 (171.4). Moreover, all
commodity groups recorded an increment in April 2018 compared with the last year’s prices of the same month.

Working Age Population in Caraga (Results from the 2015 Census of Population)

Caraga had a total of 1,565,520 working age population as of 1 August 2015 based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015). The working age population comprised about 60.3 percent of the total population. Among the five provinces and one highly urbanized city of the region, Agusan del Sur
had the highest number of working age population.

Caraga's Child Population Reached 1.07 Million (Results from the 2015 Census of Population)

As of 1 August 2015, Caraga had a total of 1,068,131 children based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015). The children comprised about 41.1 percent of the total population (total population is 2,596,709 persons). Among the five provinces and one highly urbanized city of the region, Agusan del Sur had the highest proportion of children to the total population.

Senior Citizens in Caraga (Results from the 2015 Census of Population)

The total number of senior citizens (60 years old and over) in Caraga as of August 1, 2015 was 198,645 based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015). Senior citizens comprised 7.6 percent of the region's total population. Among the provinces and one highly urbanized city, the highest number of senior citizens was recorded in Surigao del Sur with 24.7 percent of the total seniorcitizens in the region.
