Summary Inflation Report Consumer Price Index in Caraga (2012=100): January 2021

In January 2021, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for all items in Caraga region was registered at 125.9 index points. This indicates that the average retail price of commodities that were included in the market basket for all goods and services during the month under review was higher by 25.9 percent compared to its prices in 2012 as reference base year. This month’s CPI was higher by 3.8 index points than the 122.1 CPI in January 2020. (Table 1)

In December 2020, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for all items in Caraga region was registered at 123.9. This indicates that the average retail price of commodities that were included in the market basket for all goods and services during the month under review was higher by 23.9 percent compared to its prices in 2012 as reference base year. This month’s CPI was higher by 2.7 index points than the 121.2 CPI in December 2019.

Caraga Women in the Labor Force

The result of the Labor Force Survey (LFS) conducted in April 2020 shows the economic participation of women in Caraga. Of the 1,029 thousand labor force population 15 years old and over in the region, an estimated 387 thousand or 37.6 percent were women. This posted a decrease of about 0.3 percentage point compared with 476 thousand women in April 2019.

Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing Establishments in Caraga

This report presents data on Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing establishments based on the results of the 2018 Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI). Industry Section A (Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing) includes ten industry groups covering the activities on exploitation of vegetal and animal natural resources, comprising the activities of growing crops, raising and breeding of animals, harvesting of timber and other plants, animals or animal products from a farm or their natural habitats. This section also includes support activities to agriculture and post-harvest activities.

Business and Industry Establishments in Caraga: Economy-Wide

This report highlights the results of the 2018 Census of Philippine Business and Industry for all establishments which are classified under the three major economic sectors, namely: Agriculture, Industry, and Services.

In 2018, the total number of establishments in the formal sector in Caraga region reached 12,345. This was around 4.0 times of the 3,056 establishments recorded in 2012.

Summary Inflation Report Consumer Price Index in Caraga (2012=100): November 2020

In November 2020, Consumer Price Index (CPI) for all items in Caraga region increased by 2.5 percent from 120.5 in November of last year to 123.5 in November 2020. All of the commodity groups recorded an increment in indices compared last year. Also, CPI for the reference period slightly inclined by 0.1 percent from 123.4 in October 2020. Majority of the commodity groups showed higher index compared with previous month except for Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels; Transport; Communication; and Restaurants and Miscellaneous Goods and Services commodity groups.

Gender Statistics in Caraga: 2010 and 2015

Caraga region had a household population of 2,588,131 as of August 1, 2015. This was higher by 6.7 percent or 163,343 persons compared with the household count of 2,424,788 in 2010. In both years, males outnumbered the females, with a sex ratio of 106 males in every 100 females.

Registered Deaths in Caraga: 2019

The number of registered deaths in Caraga from 2015 to 2019 showed an increasing trend except in the year 2017. The increase during the five-year period is 13.64 percent from 14,387 in 2015 to 16,350 in 2019. Reported deaths in 2019 have an increase of 6.52 percent from the previous year’s deaths of 15,348.

Registered live births in Caraga for 2019 reached a total of 43,574. It has an erratic trend from the Years 2015 to 2019. It showed an increasing number from 2015 to 2016. However, it went down by 2.92 percent from 44,135 in 2016 to 42,848 in 2018. It surged again from 42,848 in 2018 to 43,574 in 2019 having an increase of 1.69 percent.
