Caraga's Palay Situation Report for 2020

Caraga’s total palay production in 2020 increased by 12.01 percent from 449,369.83 metric tons in 2019 to 503,330.88 metric tons in 2020. The acceleration of production was attributed by the increase of 7.36 percent in area harvested. Total area harvested in 2020 was estimated at 156,073 hectares which was 10,706 hectares higher compared with last year’s level of 145,367 hectares. Likewise, the yield per hectare increased by 4.21 percent from 3.09 metric tons per hectare in 2019 to 3.22 metric tons per hectare in 2020.

Birth Registration Statistics in Caraga: January-September 2020

The number of registered live births reached 28,885 in January to September 2019 which is higher compared with the recorded live births of 25,995 in the year 2020 of the same period. The year 2020 recorded a decline of 2,890 or 10 percent of the total registered live births from the same period in 2019.

Fisheries Production in Caraga for 2018-2020

This publication presents the data on volume and value of production of fisheries in Caraga during the three-year period. It contains information by major species of the three (3) fisheries subsectors, namely: commercial and municipal fisheries, and aquaculture. It shows the fisheries statistics from the four (4) fisheries surveys regularly conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). The surveys are: Quarterly Commercial Fisheries Survey (QCFS), Quarterly Municipal Fisheries Survey (QMFS), Quarterly Inland Fisheries Survey (QIFS) and Quarterly Aquaculture Survey (QAqS).

In April 2021, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for all items in Caraga region was registered at 128.2 index points. This indicates that the average retail price of commodities that were included in the market basket for all goods and services during the month under review was higher by 28.2 percent compared to its prices in 2012 as reference base year. This month’s CPI was higher by 5.4 index points than the 122.8 CPI in April 2020.

Women and Men in Caraga

Based on the updated 2010 Census-based Population Projections using the results of the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015), the population in the region reached 2,723,012 as of July 1, 2019. Of this, more than half or 51.4 percent (1,398,757) were men while 48.6 percent (1,324,255) were women.

Marriage Registration Statistics, Caraga: January to September 2020

For the period January to September 2020, Caraga region posted a total of 4,542 registered marriages. The province of Agusan del Sur registered the highest number with 1,446 or 31.8 percent of the total. This was followed by the province of Agusan del Norte with 1,151 or 25.3 percent of the total registered marriages. Meanwhile, the province of Surigao del Sur has a total share of 936 or 20.6 percent. The provinces of Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands registered 923 or 20.3 percent and 86 or 1.9 percent, respectively.

Death Registration Statistics, Caraga: January to September 2020

For the period January to September 2020, Caraga Region posted a total of 11,024 registered deaths. Figure 1 shows that the Province of Surigao del Sur registered the highest number of registered deaths with 2,693 or 24.4 percent of the total. This was followed by the Province of Surigao del Norte with 2,349 or 21.3 percent of the total registered deaths. Meanwhile, the Province of Agusan del Sur posted a share of 2,238 or 20.3 percent of the total. The Province of Agusan del Norte followed with 1,667 or 15.1 percent while Butuan City, a highly urbanized city has a share of 1,608 or 14.6 percent. The Province of Dinagat Islands on the other hand, had the lowest registered deaths with a total of 469 or 4.2 percent.
