Figure 1 shows the number of registered live births in Caraga Region from 2016 to 2020 with a decreasing trend. However, it showed a slight increase of 1.84 percent from 41,594 in 2018 to 42,154 in the year 2019. It posted a decrease of 3.15 percent from 42,946 in 2016 to 41,594 in 2018. It again went down by 8.07 percent from 42,154 in the year 2019 to 38,748 in the year 2020. The total registered live births from 2016 to 2020 declined by 9.77 percent.

Vital Statistics January-August 2021

For the period January to August 2021, Caraga Region posted a total of 18,990 registered live births. Figure 1 shows that the Province of Surigao del Sur registered the highest number with 5,526 or 29.1 percent of the total. This was followed by the Province of Agusan del Sur with total registered live births of 4,772 or 25.1 percent. Meanwhile, the Province of Agusan del Norte including Butuan City has a total share of 4,508 or 23.7percent. The Provinces of Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands have registered a total live birth of 3,641 or 19.2 percent and 543 or 2.9 percent, respectively.

Summary Inflation Report Consumer Price Index in Caraga (2012=100): May 2021

In May 2021, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for all items in Caraga region was registered at 128.2 index points. This indicates that the average retail price of commodities that were included in the market basket for all goods and services during the month under review was higher by 28.2 percent compared to its prices in 2012 as reference base year.

Caraga posts 93.6% basic literacy rate in 2019

In 2019, 93.6 percent or ninety-four for every 100 population five (5) years old and over in Caraga region were basic literate, according to the results of the 2019 Functional Literacy, Education and Mass Media Survey (FLEMMS). It is lower by 0.2 percentage point compared with the basic literacy rate of the country which was posted at 93.8 percent.

Death Registration Statistics, Caraga: 1st - 4th Quarter 2020

Caraga Region posted a total of 14,812 registered deaths for the first to fourth quarter of 2020. The data shows that the Province of Agusan del Norte including Butuan City registered the highest number of recorded deaths with 4,429 or 30.0 percent of the total. This was followed by the Province of Surigao del Sur with 3,651 or 24.6 percent of the total registered deaths. Meanwhile, the Province of Agusan del Sur posted a share of 3,079 or 20.8 percent of the total. The Province of Surigao del Norte followed with 3,021 or 20.4 percent. The Province of Dinagat Islands on the other hand, had the lowest registered deaths with a total of 469 or 4.2 percent.

Caraga's Palay Situation Report for 2020

Caraga’s total palay production in 2020 increased by 12.01 percent from 449,369.83 metric tons in 2019 to 503,330.88 metric tons in 2020. The acceleration of production was attributed by the increase of 7.36 percent in area harvested. Total area harvested in 2020 was estimated at 156,073 hectares which was 10,706 hectares higher compared with last year’s level of 145,367 hectares. Likewise, the yield per hectare increased by 4.21 percent from 3.09 metric tons per hectare in 2019 to 3.22 metric tons per hectare in 2020.

Fisheries Production in Caraga for 2018-2020

This publication presents the data on volume and value of production of fisheries in Caraga during the three-year period. It contains information by major species of the three (3) fisheries subsectors, namely: commercial and municipal fisheries, and aquaculture. It shows the fisheries statistics from the four (4) fisheries surveys regularly conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). The surveys are: Quarterly Commercial Fisheries Survey (QCFS), Quarterly Municipal Fisheries Survey (QMFS), Quarterly Inland Fisheries Survey (QIFS) and Quarterly Aquaculture Survey (QAqS).
