PSA continues to conduct Farm Price Survey in 2017

Farm Price Survey (FPS) is one of the regular monthly activities of the Philippine Statistics Authority. The general purpose of the activity is to gather reliable price information at the farm level. This information will serve as input for developing sets of price indices and to measure the purchasing power of growers of selected agricultural product. It also aid in analyzing the seasonal trends and variations in agricultural prices and will help in forecasting future supply, demand and prices of agricultural commodities. Further, it will assist policy makers in the formulation, implementation and administration of economic programs and guide farmers/raisers in their decision making relative to their agricultural activities geared towards profitability. The survey monitors farm gate prices of different crops produced and traded by the province and livestock and poultry such as carabaos, cattle, hogs, goats, chickens, ducks and eggs. Prices for pesticides are also collected in the survey. Collection of data is done monthly during the last 10 days of the month. It gathers price information for the last transaction of the sample farmer happening within the survey month. All information collected by the hired Statistical Researchers from sample farmers shall be kept strictly confidential and shall not be used for purposes of taxation, investigation or regulation as provided under Article 55 of RA 10625.
