The Backyard Livestock and Poultry Survey (BLPS) is one of the major agricultural surveys conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). The quarterly survey aims to generate estimates on inventory, number of animals disposed, average farmgate price, egg production of poultry animals, milk production of dairy animals and other related data of livestock and poultry commodities at the household level. The collection of data is undertaken during the first seven (7) days of the month after the reference quarter.
The unit of enumeration for BLPS is the household with livestock and/or poultry raising activities. The production data generated from the survey are direct inputs to the valuation of production in Philippine agriculture and fisheries, and accordingly to the computation of Gross Domestic Product. Moreover, the survey supports the data needs of planners, policy and decision makers, and other stakeholders in the agriculture sector.
In Caraga, there will be hired Statistical Researchers (SRs) who will visit the 1,211 sample households to gather the needed information of all animals tended by the operators. The field enumeration for July 2021 round will be conducted on July 1-7, 2021 in all provinces in the region. All the data collected by the SRs from sample farmer-producers shall be kept strictly confidential and shall not be used for purposes of taxation, investigation or regulation as provided under Article 55 of RA 10625.
