In connection to the rebasing of Consumer Price Index (CPI), the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will conduct the 2022 Commodity and Outlet Survey (COS) in all provinces in Caraga including Butuan City. The 2022 COS aims to gather data on commodities/services that a family purchased/availed of for most of the time and the type of outlets where these commodities/services are being purchased/availed of.
The unit of enumeration for COS is the household that are successfully interviewed in the 2018 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES). The results of the survey will be used for the rebasing of the CPI (All Income and Poor Income Households) to base year 2021.
The collection of data will be undertaken by the hired Statistical Researchers (SRs) on April 01-20, 2022 using the Computer-Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI). The survey covers 868 sample households in the region. About seventy-two (72) hired SRs will be involved in the survey with a standard output of one (1) sample household per day.
In line with this, PSA encourages everyone, especially those selected sample households, to provide their usual support for the success of the survey by responding truthfully to the questions to be asked.
All the data collected from the sample households shall be kept strictly confidential and shall not be used for purposes of taxation, investigation or regulation as provided under Article 55 of RA 10625.
