Caraga had a total of 1,565,520 working age population as of 1 August 2015 based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015). The working age population comprised about 60.3 percent of the total population. Among the five provinces and one highly urbanized city of the region, Agusan del Sur had the highest number of working age population. As of 1 August 2015, Caraga had a total of 1,068,131 children based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015). The children comprised about 41.1 percent of the total population (total population is 2,596,709 persons). Among the five provinces and one highly urbanized city of the region, Agusan del Sur had the highest proportion of children to the total population. The total number of senior citizens (60 years old and over) in Caraga as of August 1, 2015 was 198,645 based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015). Senior citizens comprised 7.6 percent of the region's total population. Among the provinces and one highly urbanized city, the highest number of senior citizens was recorded in Surigao del Sur with 24.7 percent of the total seniorcitizens in the region. Caraga’s economy grew by 3.2 percent in 2018. Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing as well as Services continued to expand in 2018 while Industry declined. Services continued to expand in 2018 with 5.7 percent growth. All industries under Services contributed to the increase during the period except for Transportation, Storage and Communication.
